    Office Manager / Senior Technician
    Alena joined the Animal Kingdom family in 1998 when she helped to open the hospital. She is a long time resident of Cary, having moved here at the age of 13. Alena attended West Cary Middle and Cary High School before heading off to North Carolina State where she earned a B.S. in Zoology. She then chose a career as a Veterinary Technician and later joined Animal Kingdom.

    She is happily married to her husband of over 20 years and has 2 beautiful daughters. She has several four legged babies including 7 cats and a rabbit


    In her spare time she enjoys loving on her babies both furred and un-furred, gardening, reading, cooking with her daughters, spending time with her husband and the never ending task of home improvement.

  • Alicia H.
    Veterinary Assistant

    Alicia has been a member of the Animal Kingdom family since August of 2013. Prior to her work here, she volunteered for Noah's Landing in Coats for 8 years as a Zookeeper, Tour Guide, Camp Counselor and eventually Camp Director. Her heart is with exotic animals, especially rabbits. She has been a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator specializing in Eastern Cottontail Rabbits for over 13 years.  She currently has 18 pets along with a varying number of wildlife at any given time. Her horses are Misty and Penny. Her cats are Maia, Elsie, Bob, Merida, and Clara. Her rabbits are Pumpkin, Goblin, Little Bear (Fearless Earless), Roo, and the newest is a special needs tripod named Wyatt. She has a small flock of 5 budgies and a Moluccan cockatoo named Sophie.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Katelyn joined the Animal Kingdom family near the end of 2020. She is from Greensboro NC where she currently has multiple family pets which include a German Shep-radore named Murphy, two kitties named Boy Kitty and Girl Kitty, Gus the guinea pig and Clarence the fish.
    As well as attending NC State to earn her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, she also fosters for the SPCA and has her own fur-baby named “Cinnaman” who she lives with in Raleigh.
    Katelyn plans on applying to vet school after graduation and in her free time loves to tackle DIY projects, read (Stephen King mostly), and referee soccer for NCFC and the local high schools in the Triangle Area. 


  • Lily B.
    Veterinary Assistant

    Lily joined the Animal Kingdom Veterinary Hospital family in November 2020. She is from Foxborough, Massachusetts where she has two younger brothers, a dog named Hazel, and three kitties named Rosie, Oliver, and Oakley. 

    Lily is a senior at North Carolina State University where she is majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Veterinary Bioscience. She plans to apply to vet school this fall with hopes of owning her own practice one day. When not at work, Lily enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the beach, and painting.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Abby joined the Animal Kingdom family in 2021. She is from Greenville, NC and is a graduate of Pitt Community College and North Carolina State University with a degree in Animal Science. She has 2 family pets, a senior tuxedo cat named Cassie and a 3-year-old German Shepherd mix rescue named Maisy. She plans to begin her graduate studies at NC State in Spring 2022, followed by vet school. In her free time, she likes to read, play video games with her friends, and spend quality time with her mom, dad, and twin brother.

    Metzly joined the Animal Kingdom family in 2021. She is from Portland, Oregon but has lived in Raleigh for most of her life. Having been around all types of farm animals and pets all her life is where her love for them came from.
    Metzly is currently enrolled in Wake Tech earning her Associates of Science Degree but plans on attending NC State to major in Animal Science and obtain her bachelor’s degree. She then plans on applying to vet school and work towards one day owning her own practice.
    On her free time, Metzly enjoys visiting sheltered fur-babies who are in need of some loving and play time, hitting the gym, and going on drives with her own fur-baby, Minnie.
