• Thank you Excellent Animal Kingdom Vet Team. We are SO grateful for you!

Highly recommend Animal Kingdom Vet Team in Cary and Dr Highsmith. We have been taking our 4 cats, 4 dogs here since 2007. Dr Highsmith is the most ethical, smart and compassionate vet. Yesterday sadly we had to part with our beloved Cocoa cat and Elena and Dr Highsmith made it not the worst experience that no pet parent wants to go through. Thank you Excellent Animal Kingdom Vet Team. We are SO grateful for you!

  • Dr. Highsmith has been our vet since 2011.

Dr. Highsmith has been our vet since 2011. She takes great care of our 17 year old cat, Corky, who has chronic kidney disease, as well as our younger cats, June and Chi. Recently we became concerned about Chi because she was sneezing, with runny eyes and none of her usual energy. Dr. Highsmith was kind enough to come in earlier than she had planned on the morning I called because I was so worried about Chi. She worked us in, even though she had surgeries scheduled right afterwards. Our family loves that the care our cats receive at Animal Kingdom is professional, prompt and compassionate. We have seen Dr. Midkiff a few times for routine appointments and can confirm that she is a fantastic provider as well. The vet techs here are similarly wonderful, both on the phone and in person...special shout out to Kristen, who is sharp and sweet and soothing to this cat mom's jangled nerves in times of sickness . I wholeheartedly recommend this practice to anyone and everyone!

  • Will be switching all of my pets to this vet clinic!

Dr. Highsmith and staff are wonderful! I took my foster rabbit (I have since adopted him!) in for a well check because he wasn't eating well and underweight. They listened to my concerns and spent a great deal of time checking him over and addressing everything I had mentioned. There are many vets in the area who are dismissive of clients and rush in and out. This team really wowed me! Their fees are incredibly reasonable and they accept the SPCA vouchers for rabbit spaying and neutering. Will be switching all of my pets to this vet clinic!

  • There is no doubt in my mind that they are truly the best veterinary hospital for rabbits in this area

I absolutely loved Animal Kingdom they seemed very knowledgeable, welcoming, and truly cared for my rabbit. The flat pay for a rabbit spay was around $320 for me but i opted for preanesthetic screen, laser surgery, and the pain management package. I also included the receipt if yall wanna research the additional packages with the prices before your appointment. They explained to me what to do before her surgery and had me bring in hay, pellets, and greens so Josie could eat after and not risk GI stasis. They also gave me printed instructions for how to care for her after along with how to feed her her pain medication. My favorite thing they did was how they called me to check up on Josie for the next 2 days after her spay to make sure she was eating and gave me tips for how to check the incision.

It's been a week since the spay and my bunny is back to normal and doing great thanks to their amazing team. I think it was well worth the money and I will definitely be coming back for all of my bunny care needs. They also have a few adorable vet cats that were extremely cute and friendly that helped calm my nerves when dropping off my bunny. They made this stressful process a breeze and there is no doubt in my mind that they are truly the best veterinary hospital for rabbits in this area.

  • The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, truly grateful for the care they've given our pets.
We've been using Animal Kingdom since 2018. Even after moving out of Cary, we still drive from Raleigh because they are so good with our dogs and we don't trust just anyone with them. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, truly grateful for the care they've given our pets.

  • Dr. Highsmith has a very kind demeanor and genuine concern for her patients.

I went to Animal Kingdom for the first time in 2004 when I got my kittens and they did the spay and neuter procedure. Dr. Highsmith has a very kind demeanor and genuine concern for her patients. The first location was over near Bosporus on Harrison and they just recently moved to a newer space on East Durham (not far at all from the previous office). The new location is bright and airy and clean and has a very welcoming feel. There are kitty cats that greet you in the waiting room and sit on the counter.

I recently brought it my 13-year old cat and after bloodwork and an ultrasound, no one could really figure out what was wrong with him. There was either inflammation or cancer at play and my cat kept loosing weight. Dr. Highsmith and the team tried to diagnose him but his could not make it through more testing at VSH and passed away. Alena and the team were very kind with every visit and I received the most touching sympathy card from the staff after Theodore's passing.

  • I would definitely go back.

Went here for first time. Got in same day. Very friendly. Lower prices than elsewhere. Tiny office. Vet was nice and was extremely practical. No upsellling or vaccine guilt trips.

I asked what to feed my dog and she surprised me by telling me Dog Chow was just fine, and grain free wasn't necessary unless my dog has skin issues. No food snobbery or pharma brainwashing. So much better than most vets. 2 cats hang out in small waiting area. I would definitely go back.
